On July 1, 2002, the national office of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) passed a resolution to not allow any of its 500 affiliates to exclude mentors or volunteers on the basis of "race, age, color, religion, national origin, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, veteran status, or disability." Local websites of BBBS affiliates, proclaim that the purpose of the organization is to match adult volunteers "with at-risk children primarily from single parent homes. The Big Brothers and Big Sisters serve as mentors and role models to their school-aged Little Brothers and Little Sisters." Each volunteer is expected to spend "several hours weekly" in a "ONE-TO-ONE relationship, for a minimum of one year."
As one who was left to raise the last four of my children alone, I certainly understand the need for children to have the opportunity of a good role model for the missing parent. However, what could I, as a single mother, expect my sons to learn from the lifestyle example of a homosexual mentor that I would want them to copy in their lives?
Until 1961, the sort of "non-reproductive, non-commercial, sex" homosexuals engage in was a criminal act throughout America. Even today, 14 states have laws against sodomy, (2) which is what we are talking about here, defined in the dictionary as "unnatural, especially anal copulation with a human or an animal." In a few years time we have moved the national understanding of sodomy from it being a felony, to homosexual buddies for fatherless children being a step forward in human rights. If that is the case, what could single mothers reasonably expect a homosexual to model for their sons?
Well, for starters, according to studies by the Center for Disease Control (3) released July 9, 2002, the homosexual Big Brother is nine times more apt to have AIDS than a heterosexual Big Brother. Also it reports that approximately two-thirds (60%) of the homosexual Big Brothers are also apt to be intravenous drug users.
In analyzing "It's Elementary," a video being pushed by the Homosexual community (4) on public elementary schools, three years ago I stated: "Death is the real face of homosexuality." A report entitled: "Homosexuality-A public Health Problem" by Raphael Kazmann found that the average age of homosexuals who die with AIDS in the United States is 39. The average age of homosexuals who die of other causes is only 41. The study, accomplished over a period of five years, showed homosexual conduct reduces life expectancy by at least 30 years. Other studies puts the reduction of life expectancy of homosexuals at 40 years. The Kazmann report, which reviewed thousands of cases, found that only one percent of homosexuals lived to be 65 or older.

Now, I ask you, what part of this picture of a homosexual's life would I want my sons to copy? Why would any mother, if given the facts, want her children to be mentored by people living such an unhappy, unsuccessful and life-shortening life-style?
